DESERT STORM MARINES
In this war, thousands of reservists are called up for the first time since the Korean War. The Marines of Bravo Company, 4th Tank Battalion, are hastily trained and sent into action, leading the effort to free Kuwait. They defeat the Iraqis in battle after battle and eventually reach Kuwait City, successfully accomplishing their objective. Just a few weeks later, they return home and resume their former jobs.
Historian Jeff Dacus, a retired Master Sergeant of Marines who experienced tank combat in Operation Desert Shield/Storm, presents a narrative account based on interviews, first-person accounts, and official documents. This account depicts a group of Marine reservists during the 1991 Operation Desert Shield/Storm.

ABOUT
Jeff Dacus is a retired Master Sergeant of Marines who experienced tank combat in Operation Desert Storm. He is also a retired school teacher who taught U.S. history for 35 years and taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Portland. His first book, The Fighting Corsairs, will be released October 1st 2020 by Lyons Publishing.
He is a private pilot who has written numerous print articles in Leatherneck Magazine and Armor Magazine, as well as online for the Journal of the American Revolution. He participates in local veterans groups, and is a speaker at historical events and historian for the annual Northwest Colonial Festival.
He received the General Roy S. Geiger award for his his article titled “Don’t Strafe Kahili!" published in the March, 2019 issue of Leatherneck Magazine. His articles have appeared in the Journal of the American Revolution annual volume 2017 & 2020. He has appeared as a featured guest on SiriusXM The Dave Nemo Show and on the Journal of the American Revolution Podcast "Dispatches."
He has an undergraduate degree from Portland State University and is a distinguished graduate of American Military University. He also has post-graduate degrees from Lewis and Clark College and the University of Portland.

The General Roy S. Geiger Award is given to the author of the best article in the field of Marine Corps Aviation at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. I received the 2020 Award for my article titled “Don’t Strafe Kahili!" published in the March, 2019 issue of Leatherneck Magazine.
